The rhythm of the book unfolds between two main content typologies that alternate in a dialogue: the architect’s personal archive material, and professional photographs. While the narrative starts archival-heavy, as the reader progresses, the photographic sections gradually take over—resulting in a vibrant interplay between historical documentation and contemporary perspectives.

Based on a four-row grid, the archival sections are structured by a vertical layout system in which each module is assigned 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, or 12 rows, corresponding to its contextual importance. On the other hand, the photography sections are rotated by 90 degrees, allowing for a full-page horizontal reading that embodies the dynamic and multidimensional character of Thomann’s architecture.

In the production process, typographic subtleties, photographic details, and color fidelity were monitored and carefully fine-tuned for consistency across the full print run.

The book’s cover extends Thomann’s architectural thinking into the object itself. A screen-printed, transparent cover echoes the spirit of Thomann’s PVC air-cushion facades. Combined with a custom binding that remains open at the back, the book’s construction is exposed rather than concealed—resulting in a bold yet flexible body that balances protection and openness, surface and depth.
